Adult Tap
Adult Tap Classes
Tap dance is a rhythmic and energetic style that combines movement, musicality, and sound. Using the feet as an instrument, dancers learn to create rhythms and patterns while developing coordination, balance, timing, and musical awareness. Tap is both mentally and physically engaging, making it a fun and rewarding way to challenge the body and mind while exploring the joy of making music through movement.
At Gulf Coast Dancenter, our adult tap program offers two levels to meet dancers where they are in their journey. Whether you are stepping into tap shoes for the first time, returning after years away, or looking to continue building your technique, our classes provide a welcoming and supportive environment for adult dancers. With an emphasis on strong tap fundamentals, rhythm, musicality, and clear progression, dancers can build confidence and skills while enjoying the energy and community of dancing together.

What to Wear
Attire:
We want you to be comfortable and confident, so here is what we suggest:
-
- Fitness attire. Bottoms and tops that you can easily move in. Jeans are not suggest even if loose.
- Tap shoes
Recommendations:
-
- It is highly recommended to buy your shoes at a dance store. There you can try on many different brands and sizes allowing you the best fit.
- We do recommend Oxford style tap shoes. You can wear heel tap shoes but they are more difficult to tap in. Many musical theater performances require performing tap in heels so they are allowed, but if this is not your goal then an oxford tap shoe is best.
