Our new season begins August 10, and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage families to enroll early to reserve your child’s place.

Pre-Ballet Program
A Joyful First Step into Ballet
Our Pre-Ballet Program is designed especially for children ages 3–5 who are taking their very first dance class. Through imaginative movement, music, and age-appropriate ballet instruction, children build coordination, confidence, creativity, and classroom skills while developing a love for dance in a fun, encouraging environment.
Our experienced instructors specialize in working with young children and understand how to keep little dancers engaged while introducing the fundamentals of ballet in a positive, nurturing setting.
How the Program Works
Our Pre-Ballet Program follows a continuous, year-round training model because young children thrive with consistency and routine. Rather than short sessions that repeatedly start and stop, our dancers enjoy ongoing, developmentally appropriate instruction that allows them to build confidence, strengthen new skills, and develop a genuine love for ballet over time.
Each class builds upon the last, giving students the opportunity to progress at a pace that is appropriate for their age while learning classroom etiquette, musicality, coordination, and the foundational movements of ballet.
Students are placed in classes based on their age and advance to the next level each August as they continue growing both technically and personally.
Ways to Watch Your Dancer Grow:

- Weekly Parent Viewing: Watch your child’s class live from our lobby on the classroom viewing monitor while allowing dancers to remain focused during class.
- Winter & Spring In-Studio Showcases: Families are invited to enjoy two special performances held right here at the studio. Our space is transformed into a black box theater, giving every child a memorable first performance experience in a comfortable, supportive environment.
- End-of-Season Parent Observation: During the final week of July, parents are invited into the classroom to observe a regular class and see how much their dancer has grown throughout the year before advancing to the next level on August 1.
Why We Chose Showcases Instead of a Traditional Recital
We believe a child’s first performance experience should build confidence, not anxiety.
Instead of a large theater recital, our Pre-Ballet Program offers two optional in-studio showcases each year, intentionally designed for children ages 3–5.
Why We Chose This Approach

Our studio is transformed into a charming black box theater, creating a special performance atmosphere in a space your child already knows and feels comfortable in.
✔ Confidence Comes First
Rather than introducing a new stage, bright lights, backstage areas, and a large audience all at once, we introduce just one new element—performing for family and friends. This helps children gradually build confidence in front of an audience.
✔ Celebrating Growth
Each showcase features dances and skills learned throughout the season, giving your child the opportunity to proudly share what they’ve been working so hard to accomplish.
✔ Optional Participation
Showcases are encouraged but never required. We want every family to participate when the time feels right for their child.

Our goal isn’t simply to put children on a stage.
Our goal is to create a positive first performance experience that helps every child leave feeling:

After years of watching hundreds of young dancers participate in these showcases, we’ve seen firsthand how this gentle introduction to performing helps children develop confidence that extends far beyond the dance studio.
Showcase Details
Winter Showcase – December, date TBA

- $95 Performance Fee, due November 1st
- Includes: 4 tickets to showcase, girls performance tutu and tiara, boys color matched shirt, and refreshements after performance
- Parents can take photos and videos during showcase to share with friends and family.
Spring Showcase – May, date TBA

- $95 Performance Fee, due April 1st
- Includes: 4 tickets to showcase, girls performance skirt (the next level color) and flowers for the hair, boys color matched shirt, and refreshements after performance
- Celebration of 1 year of dance, dancers recieve a ballerina trophy to document and celebrate their year of dance
- Parents can take photos and videos during showcase to share with friends and family.
How to Support Your Young Dancer at Home
Young children naturally go through phases where their enthusiasm comes and goes. A little encouragement at home can make a big difference in helping your child stay excited about ballet.
Watch Ballet Together
Enjoy family-friendly ballet movies like Leap! or Barbie in The Nutcracker to inspire your child’s imagination and love for dance.
Read Ballet Books
Reading stories about ballet helps your child connect with what they’re learning in class and creates opportunities to talk about dance together.
Talk About Ballet
Ask simple questions like, “What was your favorite part of class?” or “Can you show me your favorite ballet step?” Showing interest in their experience helps build confidence and excitement.
Dance at Home
Put on music and have a dance party! Encourage your child to practice what they’ve learned or simply enjoy moving to the music.
Celebrate Their Effort
Praise your child’s willingness to learn, try new things, and have fun. Confidence grows when children feel encouraged, not pressured.
What if my child loses interest?
30-Day Withdrawal Policy
Children naturally go through seasons of excitement, frustration, and everything in between. It’s not uncommon for a young dancer to have an “off week” or lose interest for a short time before rediscovering their love for ballet.
For this reason, we require a 30-day notice if you decide to withdraw from classes. We believe this transition period gives both parents and dancers the opportunity to ensure the decision is the right one and isn’t simply based on a temporary phase.
If you choose to discontinue your child’s enrollment, please email info@gulfcoastdancenter.com with the subject line:
“Withdrawal for [Child’s Name]“
Your 30-day notice begins on the date we receive your email, and tuition will continue through the 30-day notice period.
Pre-Ballet 3 (Age 3 by September 1st)
This is a 45-minute ballet class that introduces the child to the world of ballet. The focus of the class at this age is classroom etiquette, simple ballet terms, hearing the music, the start of lower and upper body coordination, and strength.
* Class size kept small at 6 students per class.
Class options (a 45-minute weekly ballet class):

- Wednesday: 9:15-10am
- Saturday: 9:15-10am

- $35 annual registration fee/student
- $95 performance fee (optional performance) – Winter showcase is due November 1st and Spring Showcase is due April 1st
Pre-Ballet 3 Dress Code:
Girls:
- Light Pink leotard
- Pink footed or convertible ballet tights.
- Pink canvas or leather ballet slippers.
- Hair – up and out of face, ballet bun is ideal.
- Optional – Pink ballet skirt for over the leotard.
Boys:
- White or black t-shirt.
- Black gym shorts or bike shorts.
- Black canvas or leather ballet slippers.
Pre-Ballet 4 (Age 4 by September 1st)
In Pre-Ballet 4 we work on oppositional coordination of the body, strength, and flexibility. In addition, music theory is formally introduced as well as expanding their ballet terminology.
* Class size kept small at 8 students per class.
Class options (a 1-hour weekly ballet class):

Pre-Ballet 4 Dress Code:
Girls:
- Light Blue leotard
- Pink footed or convertible ballet tights.
- Pink canvas or leather ballet slippers.
- Hair – up and out of face, ballet bun is ideal.
- Optional – Light blue ballet skirt for over the leotard.
Boys:
- White or Black t-shirt.
- Black gym shorts or bike shorts.
- Black canvas or leather ballet slippers.
Pre-Ballet 5 (Age 5 by September 1st)
Pre-Ballet 5 is the precursor to Ballet 1. In this class we start to lay a more traditional ballet structure to the hour long class, begin to count different rhythms of music, formally start to work on placement of arms, and continue to expand on the student’s ballet terminology.

Class options (a 1-hour weekly ballet class):
